LoLo Wins at the Canwest Games!

The Canwest Games is the largest CrossFit competition in Western Canada. It was a 3 day long competition with a wide variety of divisions, including elite, intermediate and scaled individual and team divisions. There was a total of 1,200 athletes who competed.

Congratulations to all of the amazing athletes who competed at the CanWest Games this past weekend in Coquitlam, BC!

Results are in!

CrossFit LoLo had 15 athletes compete throughout the weekend. Coach Adrian Toderan placed 22nd overall after a hard fight and a really solid performance across the board in the Elite Men’s Division. Huge Congratulations to team “LoLo PowerPuff Girls” finished up the weekend with a 1st place finish in the Scaled Women’s Trio! Team “Squat Goals” coming in at 12th. “The Notorious W.O.D” came in at 32nd in the Intermediate Women’s Trio. “The WOD Squad” finished in 17th in the Scaled Men’s Trio. For a lot of these athletes, it was their first time competing in a CrossFit Competition. As a result, they are much more confident in their competitive skills and are ready to tackle the next competition!

Here’s what some of them had to say about their experience:

“I started training at CrossFit LoLo in September.  I never in a million years thought I would end up competing in the Canwest Games, let alone come in
1st place in our division!” says Brittney. “I am so happy to be surrounded by so many like-minded, healthy, positive, strong and happy people.”

Jory said he and Baylea had an epic weekend at the Canwest Games.  “It was so much fun, but I would leave the kids at home next time.”

CrossFit LoLo ended the weekend with big smiles all around, a great sense of pride and just a few sunburns.

A big thank you!

Thank you to everyone who made the trip out to support and cheer on our members! It meant a lot to have some friendly faces in the crowd:).

Also, thank you to everyone from the LoLo team who stayed in Victoria to keep the gym running as usual with both owners and 5 coaches on the mainland.  We definitely were having fun with Coach Naomi, Kirby and Adam getting into the dunk tank at the RX Recovery Booth to help support Kid’s Sport!

LoLo staff and family member, Chantelle Demmy volunteered as a judge again this year. The volunteers at this event are amazing, they put in 12 hours per day!

In the lead up to CanWest, we hosted a Lift-Off to give the athletes and fellow members in our YYJ CrossFit Community the opportunity to practice their olympic lifting in front of a crowd and under the pressures of a time restriction.
